We are near Seattle, but I suppose b/c we were originally from Houston, it didn't seem very expensive to us. No state tax and our property tax is 1/7 of what it was in Houston. We are actually saving money here and have almost 5 more acres of property with a tiny, itty bitty mountian view.

I think prices drop considerably when you leave Seattle. Seattle is sandwiched between the Sound and the Mountians, so there is no room to grow.

i USED to be from seattle - right in city. but when you sell in that market you can 'buy the farm' out here in ohio without even flinching!

my taxes here on 15 acres are way less than my SMALL lot in seattle... and once we get the ag discount (next year) they will be nothing.

whoot!

No, not near, but all things being relative, it sure feels like it.

Yikes -- me too. L.A. is 13th on the list, and lots of other California cities are on there too. Even Riverside, which surprised me -- I thought it was fairly cheap out there (relatively speaking, that is.)
