Well, my Magic Bullet bit the dust, (the second one I've owned) I love it, it's great for smoothies, but the motor si just not powerful enough. While I have gone through two in three years, for $50 a pop, I wonder if there is something out there that is convenient, with a powerful enough motor. I have a hand blender, but it doesn't quite cut it for frozen fruit.

I looked up the vitamix and :ep when I saw the price. Any recommendations?

I like these Oster blenders . Note the "all metal drive system". ;) I think I got mine from Target a few years back to replace the ancient one that I inherited from my parents. I did a bit of internet research before deciding to stick with the same brand and this particular model. Good luck whatever you decide. :)

Yeah...look for metal innards. Also look for a GLASS pitcher. Plastic just gets all scratched to hell...and those scratches harbor bacteria.

ya i would recommend an OLD oster for sure. i owned a juice bar a lifetime ago and they were the best next to of course my vitamix but i understand that they are not in everyone budget. i just have to have a commercial kitchen at home. it is the all metal drive system in the old ones that are great so if they still are making one this way i am sure i new one would be fine though i suspect you will get better results with an old one.
on a side note i found a bruan juicer at the thrift shop today for $3.99 this i found in my juice bar days to also be a great machine and again the only one that came close to standing up to it commercial counter parts. i do still have my RUBY but she is a bit much for the home kitchen so i am so happy to have found one. i got one last year at a yard sale for $5 but left it with the ex and DD and i was just contemplating asking for it back if they werent using it now i dont have to!!!!
