In another thread....you mentioned a plastic scare in your kitchen.

Is there another thread about it that I missed? What happened?

Oh, not really a "big scare" but I took on the task of ridding my kitchen of all things plastic. That's all. I just don't trust it, you know, from leaching all its nasty plastic-ness onto my food etc. It was a huge undertaking (not really :p) b/c I was overwhealmed by all the plastic I used on a daily basis. Such as those thick cutting boards, tupperware, children's cups, ziplocks, plastic wrap, spatualas, ladles, melamine dishes etc.

It is aluminum foil....don't use it on anything acidic, like tomatoes! Both plastic and foil are nasty. I try to use canning jars as much as possible, or ceramic bowls and put the wrap on so it doesn't touch the food. I have a few bowls with re-usable plastic lids, so I try to use those more.

It is difficult in today's world with the lifestyle we are used to.....

I really like putting things in bowls and covering with those little re-useable shower cap looking thingies. My grandmother had them all the time- I found some years ago at the Country Store up here. Since then, the big companies (like saran) have come out with flimsier versions of them- just in time since all my decades old ones are really getting ratty. The new ones aren't as sturdy, but you can wash and re-use them.

Oh, they still have them! I didn't see them in the store- it may just be on line.

BBH,
Gotcha........I was afraid that you had an accident or something that made you allergic to plastic in your kitchen.

SO not fair that you can go into the country store, I love that darn place. (bought a few things there, my hot water bottle being most recent!)
