Here's the Christmas present our son made for Dad.

Now we need to re-felt the table and sides, finish the basement, and add wiring for lights. Hum! That's a lot of work. It would have been easier to "just say no" to this beautiful piece.

Thank you. Yes, he does a good job. He works for "Schuler's Fine Furniture" in Janesville, WI where you can see some of the many types of pieces he has made.

Son builds out of our woodworking shop since we have better machines, set up, and more space than the small company has. Almost everything they make is from recycled barn wood. Rob much prefers to use hardwoods and makes things for people in the area in addition to barn wood furniture for Schuler's.

Here is my Christmas present. A beautiful frame for the mirror I had in the dining room.

And a shelf for space over my microwave. . . . . . in use below. Shelf gave me the 2" I needed plus room for the phone off wet surface of counter.

Nice looking woodwork smart red, most of my projects are done with dimensional lumber like 2x4"s & 2x6"s . Mostly outdoor projects like picnic tables , outdoor furniture and such.

One problem: I just don't have the patience for very fine detailed work.

DS just started making some "Pennsylvania Spice Chests" with walnut, cherry, red oak, maple, and white oak. If it weren't so cold, I'd go outside and get a picture. Maybe tomorrow?
Only about a foot tall, they will be really neat with two 'secret' compartments.

Should'a, would'a, could'a!

I was waiting for a finished chest when DS took them home to 'apply a finish' to the insides before he puts them together. The chests should be brought back to be completed soon and I will get some pics.

Here are the three cabinets that he has started so far. He still needs to make the drawers, doors, feet, and decide upon a finish.

Also shown is one of the wood shop cats, Sunset or Thumbs. Since we heat the shop with a corn burner, the cats have their fill of rodent pests.
