I like to make aprons as gifts for my grandchildren. These are the latest ones. Jonah (5 yrs old) whose nickname is "Donut." He says his favorite color is pink. So... I figured I'd make the decorations on his apron doughnuts, with pink frosting and chocolate sprinkles.

I just finished Junie's apron. She will be 10 tomorrow, goodness how fast they are growing up!! She says her favorite colors are blue and orange. So... I hope she will like this combination of fabrics and trims.

How wonderful ! I am sure both children will be thrilled to get something that came with so much care and consideration. I just love all the bits and bobbles on them.

I go on these apron making binges. Weeks of nothing but repairing and making new aprons. I used to think it took a long time to do them up. I would have spent several days working on them and still only have a handful. My sweet husband pointed out that the second someone shows appreciation for a particular one, it goes home with them :p

I love that pattern. I can't tell from the pic, are you lacing the tie through the loops on the yoke too?

There are two different patterns, the first one for Jonah, is from an old apron of my daughter's when she was little. I have yet to find one exactly like it. The tie runs along the sides inside of a facing.

The second one is Simplicity #3746. That one the ties go through the loops on the sides. It is not an easy pattern. It is completely lined in the back, so at the edges you have three layers of fabric to keep straight. plus the ties and loops to worry about. Then top stitching the entire edge.

I like the way it turned out... but it is a much more labor intensive pattern. I HATE hand basting, but that is the only way to keep the layers from shifting around.

Those are wonderful! I especially like the blue and orange one with it's ladybug and personalized label. What a nice gift. :)

Oh wonderful! Thanks for the pattern number. After years of Civil War dresses, I fear no hand basting. However, even mention pleating and I got into a bout of very unladylike verbage ;)

I love the fact that you personalize them.. I did something similar when I made aprons as gifts. Cupcakes for sil who likes to bake, horses for the horse lover etc...

My dd saw one of the crochet aprons on the Sugar'N Cream yarn add. I am afraid I will need to tackle that next.

Keep up the great work.
