Other than weight benches, I haven't run across much in the way of exercise equipment made of wood.
YOu might want to check out a local recycle store, if you have one in the area. I see lots of exercise machines that people have taken in, mostly for prices of around $25 to $50. These were items that originally sold for $400 to $800 and up. Hardly used at all. Big plans and no execution.

You can also check craigslist.com for your area.
I picked up a Weider Crossbow (like a Bowflex) machine on Craigslist for $150 a few years back. The guy said he had paid $650 or $700 for it, set it up, and he and his wife used it 3 or 4 times before deciding it took up a room they wanted for an office.
