I live on the Iowa Illinois border. I have a lab mix about 2 years old we got from a lady who was getting divorced. Unfortunately, the dog raised it's self. I got her trained in the basics and not pulling so hard on the leash (still pulls hard though but at least she doesn't drag you around the yard anymore). However, she needs way more exercise then I can give her now. Because of this she is turning her pent up frustration and energy into aggression issues. When she gets excited in the kennel and can't chase the cat or whatever she attacks my lab. All I have to do is yell at her and she stops thankfully. She also has developed food guarding. Now if I didn't have a newborn and toddler with winter coming, I'd keep her and get the issues fixed. However, I'm not willing to have her around my kids inside the house anymore. Before, this started she was obeying my two year and playing great with her. She has a ton of potential. I got her for agility but well life happens. I don't want to take her to the pound but i have had people look at her and no takers. Mostly, because they wanted small dogs. Which I told them up front she is about 60 lbs. Ugh oh well. I'm willing to drive to take her to someone if they wont back out. I know most of it will go away if she just got the exercise she needs. I have even tried finding some one who jogs to take her with them. No luck. I am going to get a treadmill soon. So maybe that will help her. So if anyone knows of a rescue that doesn't mind a challenge please let me know. Or any tips till I find someone.
Can anyone recommend a good dog rescue group?
