Can you make butter from goat's milk in the Magic Bullet or blender?

Well, that pretty much says it all. Can you? I'm getting two gallons of goats milk in a couple days, and would like to make butter. DH#1 says in India, it's a white, unsalted butter called Makan (translated sort of from Hindi). He said it puts the yellow sticks of butter in my fridge to shame.

Most of the cream will not separate like it does in cows milk. So the cream yield you have to work with will be low. To a good yield of cream from goats milk you really need a separator.

You can make butter in a blender. But here is a caution. The higher speeds that a blender rotates at damages the fats and will reduce the shelf life of the butter. For most the butter never lasts long enough for that to be of any consequence.

Well, I have between 1.5 and 3 gallons of goat milk each week, and it does "separate" after setting a while, but, there is only a tiny amt. cream. Not enough, in my opinion, to make any significant amt of butter. If you can get raw cow milk you would have better success getting a decent amt of cream. Goat milk is said to be naturally homogenized.

Why not make some cheese with it?

Thanks for the replies and the links. I was surprised to see that you could use a food processer to make butter. I thought the speeds would be too high, but I had no idea why until now. The addition of the buttermilk on the second link also surprised me.

Yes, the cheese sounds like a good idea. He likes to cook so maybe we'll give it a whirl.
