Well I was at the big WM near me today. I was picking up some more yarn for my Knifty Knitter projects. Anyways, I usually go through the linen section to see if they have anything good on clearance. I am working on heavy weight blankets / window coverings for keeping out the cold. That's another topic.

But I found canning supplies. :weee 48 boxes of regular lids for 50 cents a box. and 10 boxes of wide mouth platinum rings and lids for 1 buck per box. :celebrate Of course I bought them all. With the 2 cases I bought in spring I think I'll be covered for a while. They also had cases of pickle spices as well as some salsa seasonings. I bought a couple of each. I usually don't use the pre made seasonings but at 50 cents a bag. :idunno

I guess I just wanted to share because the WM near you may be doing the same thing.

Good luck, gina

Cool! Thanks Gina :thumbsup

I tried the pickle mix and it left a lot to be desired. It is fine as a base but you gotta add all the seasoning...garlic, dill red pepper etc. My first batch I just used the mix and it tasted like pretty plain pickles! ok for a sandwich but not good enough to eat on their own, you know?

Great deal! Our WalMart's clearanced out the canning stuff weeks ago, and the prices never got that low. I did get several dozen boxes of flat lids at TSC, though, for .99 per box, which is the best price I've seen here, ever. Snagged 'em all, of course! ;)

Thanks for the heads up. Guess I'll have to run out and do some shopping as soon as I get back home.
I'm hoping that our peppers survived the frosts, so I can still make some pickled peppers.
