I'd almost forgotten how dark Misty's mane use to be. It's gotten much lighter now.

They were supposed to be making a training video of that clinic and never did. :( At least they didn't show when Misty reared up at the beginning of the clinic!

But like I said, that was at the beginning of the clinic. And, by the end of the clinic, she had calmed down. I'm not even sure how long ago that clinic was. But, the following weekend I took her for her first "real" trail ride-at Gettysburg. And, she did great! I wouldn't have tried it otherwise. I knew she was fine in an arena, but we hadn't really trail ridden much. It was hard finding people that had the time to go w/me and I wasn't about to go alone. It doesn't help that in order to trail ride around here, you pretty much have to trailer. Any more, we take as few trailers as possible because of the costs of gas. And, we're riding a lot closer to home. I'd love to do Gettysburg again but don't know that that will ever happen. :(

yea we trailered all the time for the 'good rides' to the state parks and such here.

my area when I first moved here was all farms. I could ride down the road, Barb would ride up...we met and would ride for hours just around the farm roads and all. got permission to string together a nice long easy trail ride. That is over now. All those old farms are houses now. All the good trails are blocked at some point with fences, homes, pastures etc. just blocked ya know. it is over. that life of just getting on your horse and riding for hours is long gone by me.

now to do long good rides you have to trailer.

I hear you on the expense of trailering. stinks

That sounds about right. I got her 3/31/2006 for my birthday. I made great strides in training her in the first year. Then, the next year, there was a lot of work being done at the farm. Things were being changed around, horses were being moved-and buildings weren't delivered when they were supposed to be. There were horses in both the riding arena and the round pen! So, I didn't have any place to work w/her-unless I trailered her, and I didn't really have the time-especially since at that point in time, getting her on and off the trailer was a 2 person job. The following year, I had more time to work w/her, but not as much as I wanted. But, we were planning on going to Gettysburg and I wasn't sure how she'd do, so we went to that clinic.

Since I've seen the video, I've watched it several times just cuz I want to see my pretty horsie.
