Just finished the last of my little girls Christmas tonight and bought everything but the compound bow ( she likes archery) off line.

My goal this yr was to sell enough stuff on-line and then buy all of Christmas for her. Mission accomplished and not the Bush type of missions either. :)
I never spent a penny from our pay checks to do this. All I did was sell non-essential stuff around the house and some collectible stuff I had laying around that I never used.

The cool deal was getting the Hoyt compoundbow. Traded a favor for it. :) Nice bow I'm kind of jealous.

I'm done dealing with the big boxes and making this how much did you spend holiday??

Most items were bought off ebay and not out of country. U.S. only sellers.
Part of our plan to help the US first policy. Yes some items were made outside the US but atleast our money went to small businesses not big box stores. :)

Our plan next yr for Christmas is make or buy all homemade items from people on sites like this. Each yr we try and think of ways to make the commercial aspect of Christmas interesting. ( The religious part is already set 1 priority now :thumbsup Each yr we have a choosen family we give stuff to aswell.

Last yrs Christmas was take a trip Christmas.

Thank you all for reading. Just want to share how we deal with Christmas

You beat me. Usually I am done by now---but the things I want to get for my daughter I want a 30 day return 'just in case'--electronics.
Darn near bought stuff then realized it was way before the 30 days to return, and thought, my luck, won't work...:p
So I am forced to wait for certain items before purchase.

Tony got a crossbow. Just got it in the mail. $700 crossbow on Ebay auction for $325....so I think he did well. I told him to pretend he doesn't remember it when I wrap it for Christmas

I never spend tons. Just a few key toys she wants. Hubby and I are all about vacations so basically we buy a token item each and 'spend' that money on trips later in the year.

You did well.

I love Christmas. Best time of the year for us. We enjoy the holiday! :)

Good call on the electronics. Never thought about the 30 day things. Actually I didn't know they had a 30 policy on them. HMM learned something new. :)

That's what I do like about ebay. NEVER PAY RETAIL!!!

You guys are like us. VACATIONS!! O YEAH!!! This yr was a little harder for a long trip because of the 2 new kittens we got. :) Boy did they miss us. They shoud be better next yr.

Don't talk about christmas!

My wife is almost addicted to christmas and it's decorations everywhere!

She has not started yet, cause she knows that i'm going crazy about it.
But from 1/12 there is nothing else in the house!

This year, we just gonna make our own gifts.
Maybe not the our kids but to family and relatives.

The best with the holidays is all food!

I tend to agree ... which is why I love Thanksgiving! Lots and lots of lovely food, with friends and family, and no one stressing about giving or getting presents.

But I love Christmas too; my birthday is right near Christmas, so I think of it as "my" holiday. I love decorating the house, and cooking the food (we've lately been having goose at Christmas, as there aren't too many family members in our area at that time of year - brothers and in-laws have other places to be). But we two stopped giving each other gifts (special, just-for-Christmas gifts) years ago, and have finally (for the most part) convinced the family that we are all adults now, and it isn't really necessary. But, I grant you, it would be different if we had kids/grandkids. But, we don't, and so, it isn't. At our age, and stage of life, we don't need more stuff; we just need the pleasure and love that one gets from close family and friends. And good food always seems to bring that out even more.

ETA: Naiklot, from all that I have seen and read about Christmas in Sweden, I think it must be lovely. I love the Christmas decorations that I found on our trip to Scandinavia; they are reserved for the kitchen, and brighten that room up immensely, and make me smile while I am cooking all that good food

I have 1 measly gift bought. Or rather, the components to make said gift.....now to uncover my sewing machine to make that happen!!

We, and by that I mean me, tend to make rather than buy gifts. I love picking out fabric or yarn I think the other person will love. It makes it more personal. DH is that frantic guy you see running the aisles of the bog box store on Christmas Eve....one of these years he'll get it!!
