We have a compost bin in the back that I usually feed with kitchen veggie scraps, egg shells, and the odd shovel full of leaves. My question though, since that's what I've been up to, is can you put the clippings from the tomato vines in the compost? I know the greens are toxic, and I've put some in there, but I've noticed that the worms and slugs have scarpered, so I'm not sure if it's because of the tomato greens or because of the hot weather we've been having (it's a covered, plastic bin).

Does anyone know?
I'd think it was the hot weather in a plastic bin. :hu

Tomato plants in compost should be fine. The only time you shouldn't compost them is if they are diseased, which can spread when you use the compost on new tomato plants.
