covered hoop for Chicago winter?

I want to buy plastic to cover my hoop run so my backyard chickens will eat and forage a garden in there this winter. What ml plastic should I buy?

I have no idea how big your hoop tunnel is but you may want to consider a fabric instead of plastic. In a cold wind the plastic will shred and blow all over the county. A cotton canvas will hold up much better. Also there are shade screens that are made of polypropylene that come in 50 and 100 ft. rolls of 10, 20, and 30 ft. widths. You can find the screens at nursery and farm supply places.
