I have a crockpot that I need to put to use. We live in a state where electric rates are the highest. I bought and changed out bulbs to CFL's,cut out alot in the house and need to see if it would make money sense to do more crockpot recipes. I checked out a few web sites but it is hard to find the recipes for veggie /no meat meals.
I have 2 main questions I need input on:firstly:Stove is electric(no choice as it came with purchase of the home). I prepare veggies and grains above the stove as well as in oven. These recipes above stove basically simmer after a boil for 25 mins then are ready to eat or create further. The oven recipes take a bit longer as they are casserole type. Does anyone have input on comparisons of electric usage this way as opposed to a crockport that would be on for hours?

My 2nd question is: does anyone have a reliable website that would address budget friendly, healthy and pleasing to the palatte recipes that utilizes a crockpot should I decide this is a good route to take?No meats please. Thank you in advance!

For recipes, I use allrecipes.com. You can put your favorite recipes in your "recipe box", post your own recipes and create grocery lists among many other things. It is free unless you choose to have a paid subscription but I've been using the free membership for years. My favorite part is that you can rate and review recipes. I usually only get recipes that have well over 100 reviews and still have a rating of 4 stars or higher (1 thru 5). Most recently, we tried Italian spaghetti with meatballs and it was FANTASTIC (could have used a tiny bit more veggies but I like my sauce with lots of different veggies). There is an excellent recipe for baked potato soup that is good :drool even if you burn the bacon to the pan.

I belong to this one:

(edited to add, sorry... I totally missed the 'no meats' stipulation... but I'll leave this link up in case anyone else wants it)

They have a recipe for barbeque chicken in the slow cooker that is fabulous... it tastes just like a rotiserrie chicken, tender, moist and delicious.

They don't have a ton of recipes... but the ones I've tried have all been fabulous. If you join the club they email you recipes to try each week.
