So salad season is fast approaching, and I haven't bought salad dressing in about a year. It hasn't been too bad, since we haven't been eating that much salad over the winter.

Well, with salad season coming up, i need some really great recipes. I have failed several times at ranch dressing, but i have tried desparately since it is the kids favourite dressing.

The regulars are caesar and italian, but I am looking for something creative, but sure to please the kids, so they eat plenty of salads this summer.

Any ideas?

bonus points will be given to low carb recipes, but it's really not that big of a deal breaker if there are carbs.

Thanks !!!

Okay, here's one I love, but I'm not a kid and have no idea what they like. (I always have liked almost all food, even as a kid!) Anyway, it's good.

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressingallrecipes.com posted by me&thegals

2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoons pepper
1 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoons onion powder

3/4 cup olive oil
1 teaspoons Dijon-style mustard
1 cup red wine vinegar

In a salad dressing cruet, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, basil, pepper, salt, onion powder, and Dijon-style mustard. Pour in the vinegar, and mix vigorously until well blended. Store tightly covered at room temperature.

And another one, which I like. You could, of course, make your own mayo and use it. This comes out like a dip, so you could use buttermilk or milk to dilute it.

Ranch Dressing

Ingredients

* 1 cup mayonnaise
* 1/2 cup sour cream
* 1/2 teaspoon dried chives
* 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
* 1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed
* 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
* 1/8 teaspoon salt
* 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions

1. In a large bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, chives, parsley, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.

They do not like raspberry vinaigrette. :(

I have made that greek before, and they don't mind it, but they won't put it on regular salad.

That ranch, and a few others, I have tried and failed miserably.

Hmmm....

Maybe something creamy like a thousand isle, but it has ketchup,and i want to stay away from HFCS, among other things.

Any mayonnaise based dressings out there?

My aunt makes a wonderful dressing with mayo, cottage cheese and chili sauce - It's pink. I tried it on hubby's family and they loved it. I can't remember the exact proportions, but just keep adding and tasting.

I love this Alton Brown recipe for Honey Mustard.

5 tablespoons medium body honey (sourwood is nice)
3 tablespoons smooth Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar

I tweak it a bit. I use dry mustard powder, white pepper and AVC :)

The one I make for my sweet husband has crushed red pepper or chipotle powder in it.
