i saw some special about that cave not long ago, but i don't remember what channel it was on. it was very interesting. (my family owns a popular tourist cave, so i'm always intrigued by new cave information)

That sounds like a dream come true! I'm a total geology geek and spend my spare time looking at, hunting for land formations, identifying glacial fill. My area is mostly thousands of feet deep shale with oddities like concretions scattered in some visible layers and occasional conglomerate outcroppings which contain some clefts mistaken for caves.

i'm far from being a geology geek (not particularly well-informed on the subject other than it's relation to our cave) but i'm really interested in the amazing differences between caves. that's what was so intriguing about the crystal cave... it's completely different than any i've ever been in.

if you ever find yourself out this way, let me know and i'd be happy to show you around the cave!

During my life, I have spent a lot of time on Put-In-Bay. During those treks, I discovered one very interesting thing........ that they can make and store more Pink Catawba wine than any one man can consume. :gig

These are phenomenal photos of a cave filled with giant crystals. It is 1000 feet below the Chihuahua desert in Mexico.

On Put-In-Bay island in Lake Erie is a small cave which is actually a geode of crystal Celestine, but not as spectacular as the above cave.

Judging from the picture of that giant obelisk in your first link I would have to say it was created by the action of the Yucatan potato starches dripping down a subterranean high temperature fault that sat right over the top of an ancient woolly mammoth burial ground which over time created those beautiful crystals of vodka meat - caves are cool.

I'll admit that Vodka and its processes wasn't the first thing that jumped at me when I saw the pic, but I keep an open mind. :D

That's a nice new avatar- does that mean you're settling in for a bit?
