Yup! Watching those pups helped to thaw a bit.big brown horse said:I thought we could use some sun around here too. I wish I were right there with those pups. IT IS 10 DEGREES!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Old fashioned, I didn't know you were in WA, or did I forget?old fashioned said:Yup! Watching those pups helped to thaw a bit.big brown horse said:I thought we could use some sun around here too. I wish I were right there with those pups. IT IS 10 DEGREES!!!!!!!!!!
I think on my side of the sound, it might be a couple degrees colder. We are about 10 miles away from the water, between Puyallup and Spanaway, up on a hill. I'm just glad we don't still live in Olympia area it's only 4-bbbbrrrrrrr
I was born and raised here and the last few winters have surely been "different". One of the strangest weather happenings I remember was an ice storm the day after christmas about 12-15 years ago. It was beautifully freaky-if that's even a real term, but not as cold as it is now. go figure!big brown horse said:Hi Old fashioned, I didn't know you were in WA, or did I forget?old fashioned said:Yup! Hee hee, I was already sold on this place. To this day I still think it is the most wonderful place in the world. I have no desire to travel anymore. I'm completely smitten.old fashioned said:Hate to say it, but she was just trying to sell ya and make a buck. Although I will say a more "normal" winter wouldn't be so bad, it's just that lately normal is out, weird is in. And as for summer, just be thankful you've missed the really hot and droughty ones. This state does have alot of wildfires in spring/summer/fall, mostly on the east side since it's so much drier, less populated etc. Usually started by lightening, sometimes carelessness. A few years ago we did have a very dry year and a few wildfires on this side of mountains. That's really dangerous because of all the trees/green/fuel and too many people at risk.
People from out of state always think we're just rain, rain, rain. But in truth other places are wetter than us. Although ya shoulda been here during the 100 year flood when it never stopped raining. People are shocked to discover just how hot/cold/dry it can get.
