Hannas story made me physically sick. I started to cry when the chicken died in the ladies arms, I would have been bawling if it were me. I had some rather choice thoughts, but in the end I hope animal control takes away her animals, and she gets some serious mental health help.

The next guy, boy I hated him, how immature could he be?! And those poor rabbits, I didnt see one piece of straw or hay.

Tomorrow night is chicken hoarding on Animal Hoarders!

Yes, I saw it too. Hanna didn't treat her animals any different than she apparently treated her children. They were taken away from her too. Really the state should have come in and forced her to move out. Why the animal people just didn't let Animal Control take the animals that day is beyond me. They even said at the end of the show they were going to call Animal Control.

I also can't believe that the guy wasn't evicted. If I was the owner, I would have been sick. They may as well have torn up the walls and did damage themselves. They made the home unlivable. How could the wife stay with him? I don't understand. I felt bad for the rabbits as well and glad that the APL stepped in and removed all of them. The guy really needs a good shaking up to realize what a jerk he is.

Next week they show a house full of pet rats. That ought to be interesting. I'm not much of a TV watcher but I did become hooked on this show. It just blows my mind week after week that people can live like they do.

Yup, I too am hooked, and appalled. These sort of people are what keeps people like ME busy. I got my second PB pig, Dec. 19th, my 3rd, Dec. 24th, and there is another waiting....UGH! Us rescuers keep busy when they come across people like this...its sad really. Those people need mental help, and dont know it, or dont know where to go to get it.

I have not watched the show, but I have tried to rehabilitate dogs that have come from hoarders. It is very hard to housebreak dogs that have lived under filthy conditions. Very sad for the animals involved.

I didn't see the show either---but most hoarders have some type of OCD or mental instability I am sure---either with animals or just stuff.

with so many animals it is truly sad to watch. they "think" they provide a great loving balanced home and yet they are killing the animals they "so dearly love" and can't even see it...ugh

and the women who put their "stuff" jammed in every single room over her kids and hubby. I just don't understand that one either.

but???

I met a person like that while I worked for a vet clinic a while ago. It was horrible! She later had her animals and children taken away, but the animals were in horrible condition.

I saw it too. It was hard to see the condition those chickens lived in. Not that the other animals had it that much better!

I always worry about being a hoarder and then realize that I am too concerned about taking good care of the ones I have, before adding more. If I feel like having another animal for a while, I just foster a few kittens or puppies and that gets it out of my system. :p

DD has two parakeets that came from a hoarder. Those birds were soo skittish. We had to take them for a while, so they could get used to the commotion in a household. DD and her roomate had 4 cats and 2 dogs and full time jobs. So she didn't have the time to aclimate the birds. After spending about 2 months with us and our much more sedate household, with frequent attention by me, the birds are now comfortable in DD's household. They are not even bothered by her cats jumping on top of the cage any more

I have a lot of sympathy for hoarders. My best friend's mother was an object and animal hoarder. My friend was definitely started in that direction, but she's doing much much better, reconizing when she is not able to take care of another pet.

Now the extreme cases do gross me out and I do get how unfair to cruel it is to the animals.

Watching those shows gets me cleaning more. When dh complains about the pets or the house I make him watch hoarders.

I filled up a small room with stuff to sell/donate 2 times over the summer. Donated most to a cat shelter to sell.

I usually watch it but didn't see that one. It breaks my heart to see people that hoard animals. I saw one where there were like 5 or 6 dead cats in this lady's house and she didn't even bat an eyelash about it.

I did see "extreme couponers" last night and some of their houses looked like an episode of hoarders....

All of the extreme coupon people were overweight too....only one person on there donated extra stuff to a food pantry. It was just him and his wife and he bought $5200 of stuff for $240. He got 1100 boxes of Total. Kept one case and donated the rest to a local food pantry through his church.

There was one lady that was so obsessed with it that she had turned 3 rooms and the garage in her home into "pantrys". Her house looked like hoarders. Her husband was in tears.

Have you seen the strange addicitons show? Wow. Some weird ones on there.
