I looked but couldn't seem to find anything on it.....

Does anyone make their own dish soap? I know we make laundry soap, but what about for doing dishes?

I read somewhere, that people back in the old days, just used washing soda. I dont know where I read it, but I hung onto it, thinking it might be useful info. I haven't used it to see how it works, but may some day. Also, i noted that it is really drying to your skin, so wear gloves.

I tried a few concoctions that I saw on other sites and such and I think we posted on this site somewhere, but nothing worked like good old Palmolive. I buy Palmolive only now. Everything I tried paled in comparison.

My first batch of plain soap got dirty while traveling in a car, so I trimmed off all the edges, shredded them and soakined in hot water. Then I stick blended the whole mixture and kept adding water every 1/2-1 day until it had a liquid soap consistency. It's okay, not great, but it works for washing eggs. Good luck!

I use my own dishwasher detergent and it seems to work pretty good.

1 c borax
1 c washing soda
1 c salt

Use one Tablespoon per load.

If someone has a recipe that doesn't use borax I'd be interested in having it. The idea of using something to wash my dishes with that kills cockroaches doesn't sit real well with me, but not enough to make me buy store bought stuff.
