Doesn't get any more DIY than this, does it?

This is fantastic stuff! :D Marcin Jakubowski. I've provided links below.

Here's a guy - and his work - that I tried to introduce in my very first post here on the SS Forum. At that point, I didn't understand the probationary period (10 posts, I believe) that newbies here have to pass through to be trusted as non-spmmerers. So, originally, I could not post the links...

some good, quick introductory vids

and, for those who want more depth on what Mr. Jakubowski is involved with...

Incredible overall concept. And obvious technical competency.

:clap

I love it! Me and my father have actually talked about this, especially since we couldn afford to fix the tractor when it broke... Last six years been usin just the rototiller. This is something everyone needs to jump on and help develop the technology.

It looks like something I would love to watch... unfortunately on dial up it would take me 6 years! lol

I'll watch when I visit my mom who has high speed.

I used to miss out on all this sort of thing when I had dial-up. A pity.:/

I'm amazed. Our national radio/TV/podcast broadcaster, CBC, ran a 10 minute item on Marcin Jakubowski and his open-source machinery projects this afternoon. Especially considering we're up in Canada, and Marcin is down in Missouri. I'd discovered Marcin and his work about two years ago while surfing the web, just following a trail based on my personal interests. It was great to hear this radio item - which included a bio about the guy and some bits of interview with him - in a format that will let more people know about what he does.

By the way, "Marcin" is pronouned like marchin' - as in marchin' soldiers.

Joel...speaking of DIY...could you maybe give me some info on a little thing I want to try? I want to connect an invisible fence transmitter box to a car battery that will be connected to a solar charger. Do I have to buy an inverter to do all that or can I create one in some manner?

I know that I need something to convert the power but I was hoping to not have to buy/spend a lot to do it.

Interesting question, and I don't know enough about electronics to even begin to ask you questions about your "transmitter" and so on. Probably the info you want is on the internet, here and there. Sunsaver is one guy who has been active within recent months who could probably help... maybe leave him a PM. Good luck.

Cindylady2, the thread has wandered around a bit. What exactly is your comment referring to?
