I thought I would post this recipe for dog treats here.
It was so easy to make and my dog loves them

1/2 cup rolled oats

6 tbs Oil...................(I used canola oil)

2 cups flour ............(I used white flour, because that's all I had, I would have preferred to use whole wheat flour)

2/3 cups broth ........(I used crab broth, because I had just made some from the crab shells we had for dinner the other night.)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together well. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Use a little flour, if the dough sticks to the rolling pin or the surface. Cut into desired shapes. Bake 35-40 minutes, let cool and store in tighly sealed container.

These look really yummy, several people have wanted to try them. We almost let them ;)

My dog will do pirouettes for them

SOunds yummy - I bet you could add in bits of the meat in that broth and it would be extra good! I might have to make those for my girlie.

I would certainly add bits of meat or even bacon. It is also nice that you can use what you have. If I didn't have the crab broth already sitting in the fridge, I would have used turkey broth, which I have in the freezer. I occasionally freeze some in ice cube trays. Now I'll make a point of doing that more often.

During the summer I began making my girls some frozen Frosty Paws treats. They are a breeze to make and they absolutely love them.

Ingredients:
(1) tub organic yogurt, for this I use Vanilla, low fat.
(1) big dallop of peanut butter
(1) whole banana
(2) tablespoons honey (preferrably local variety)
(1) cup fresh pineapple chunks, drained.

Add all above ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

Spread out some 4 oz. dixie cups on a cookie sheet and pour the blended mixture evenly into the cups. I typically use 15 or 16 cups per batch. I don't fill them all the way up as it is much easier (less messy) to remove the cups if they aren't filled all the way.

Once the treats are fully frozen (couple hours max), you can remove them from the cookie sheet and place all the cups into a gallon sized zip lock freezer bag for more convenient storage.

Here is a great treat if you like to spoil your dogs on their birthday!

Peanut Butter Carrot Cake

Naturally sweet, colorful and flavorful, this cake is simple and easy to make.

1 cup flour
1tsp baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg

Mix flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into greased 8" round cake pan and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Let cool. Puree cottage cheese in blender for icing. Decorate with more peanut butter and carrots.

I'm thinking all that oily goop when I roast a chicken would be awesome to replace the oil part with. (dang I might have to eat these treats myself :gig )
I normally give that oily part to the dog anyway, I try use some when I put the bones in the crock pot to make a broth - but there is so much of it half goes to the dog.

I am thinking I can make cupcakes with the Peanut Butter Carrot cakes also for doggie treat baskets. Instead of the cottage cheese frosting-just use peanut butter?
