What does your family gravitate towards for the dinner plate?

we are meat.

we love meat LOL

veggies come in second

just wondering what hits first?

I base meals on meat. I would rather have a plate of meat (like ribs or a great giant steak) with nothing else.

I am sure there are those that want a giant plate of veggies only lol

or the person who wants that 'whole round' meal--like a tad of meat, some veg, and some bread/taters or whatever

just curious

My preferences tend to depend on the weather...

When it's cooler/cold then meat is my first choice with a side of veggies or salad. When the weather gets warm/hot then its salad and veggies with a side of poultry or fish.

Except for ham and bacon! I love, love, love both and will eat them anytime and they are good in salads! :D

We do have meat with most meals, but probably much smaller portions than most people--our meals are pretty well-rounded and we eat a lot of grains (rice, quinoa, couscous, home-baked breads) and a big variety of veggies. So we plan meals around the whole combo.

Then, like Dawn, we eat seasonally--Fall makes me crave long-cooked stews and soups, winter calls out for roasted meats and veggies, spring says salad (with protein from eggs, cold meat, legumes) and summer says barbecue or easy "don't heat up the kitchen" meals like salads or cold leftovers.

We do eat protein with every meal, but not always meat. Like Dawn, we also love bacon anytime!

My DH is a meat and tators kind of guy and ya gotta throw in a biscuit, it isn't dinner with our some kind of bread. His fav is biscuits, then corn bread and in third place rolls. He could live his whole life without veggies.
I love me some veggies and have them with every dinner.

In warm weather we eat more grilled meat and I can get DH to eat a small green salad.with lettuce, tomaotes, grated carrot thats about it. I on the other hand love to load my salad with all kinds of veggies.

In cold weather I do make soup about once a week, DH loves bean soups and stew but just not to many veggies in it, mostly spuds and meat.

Dh and dd love meat.A favorite that goes fast is grilled lamb kebobs.Yum. Cooking it inside just isn't the same.

Ds well he likes pizza. I like grains, beans, and stuff like that. I am into indian meals right now.

All except ds love salads and fruits. A steak is a treat for us along with the lamb. Can't afford it very often. Mostly for meat we have chicken a variety of ways. I only get the other stuff when in sale.

We do a lot of "stews". We eat a lot of rice and I tend to make things that we can ladle over a bowl of rice. Meat, usually chicken sometimes pork (if the price is right), and vegetables. Lots of carrots and peas get eaten around here. I like to change it up with different kinds of "gravy" We love curry, so we eat that a lot. Sometimes I'll do a tomato base, other times just a traditional broth and roux.

Breakfasts are my favorite... Biscuits and gravy and/or homefries, and fresh eggs!

And then anyone who knows me, knows I (almost) always have some fresh baked goodie around!
