I have been finding so many recipes here that I want to keep!! Does anyone have a favorite way to keep them? Are boxes easier? Are books easier? Online? Memory is no good, I am far too hyper to remember anything :/ Id also be worried about my writing, as its highly illegible unless I really try.

Also how do you categorize everything? I am so new to cooking (besides pasta) its not even funny! Usually I go down the aisle, pick 5 items that sound tasty and stick them all together :gig

The link DM gave you has a lot of good ideas, but I wanted to add (can't remember if we discussed this in the link!) I am a recipe nut, so I keep computer files of recipes that I want to try...then when I am ready to make it, I print it out and write notes on it of changes that I make or should have made based on the final product.....those I save, or re-write in a binder.

A word of warning on the printing.....be careful or you will end up with reams of recipes! Often I will just jot them down on a scrap piece of paper....if they make the cut then they go into my binder, usually hand written.

I have learned my lesson about being careful with the printing.

It is hard to know if your question has been asked before, there are so many threads. But you can try using the search function if you think of it (that is how I found that old thread). Even then, sometimes you get tons of results and they aren't all completely relevant.

I have a photo album that I either write or print recipes on 4x6 cards and slide them into the album. I usually do a bit of tweaking, then the final recipe makes it into the books.

I still have one photo album that my boyfriends mom made full of recipes(she passed away 17 years ago), and it's a treasure to me, and him...

I have a large padded mailing envelope in which most of my loose recipes reside - in particular the ones that are not standard printer paper size. It is very old (about 17 years) and getting ratty enough to need replacing, but it has been sturdy. The rest of my loose recipes (most of these are soap, bath & beauty recipes, but some are food) are clipped together with a large binder clip.

I keep mine in a collecrtion of binders in a rather hodge podge manner. I'm in the midst of switching them (either and written or printed full sheets) to 1 large 3 ring bonder with page protectors seperated by breakfast lunch and dinner etc.

That way I can pull the recipe out to use it and don't have to worry about splatter!

As I've mentioned before, if you're a techno-geek like me, Living Cookbook is a great recipe software package, I've been using it for years and it does everything I want. I do have some favorite recipes printed out and stored in the kitchen, but to keep them organized it's in the computer - backed up properly, of course.
