fermenting question

just the smell of fermenting food has me feeling hungry :D i can't wait to actually eat it. i just scraped the fuzzies out and tasted it and it's wonderful sour!!

but here's the funny... since it's been going, my cat is really hyped up too. dunno if the smell is just such an active smell or what's going on, but she wants to play all the time (she was kinda draggy and annoyed which she does in the winter, my SAD kitty).

so my question is: is there anything other than the tangy smell getting her so active? i know when you keep sour doughs going the good yeasts stay in the air and keep more sour dough going too. not sure what gets in the air with fermentation, but i'd imagine something similar.
My cat could give a rip less about my fermenting projects. But he is fat and old. I do notice when I make sourdough, gnats come out of nowhere to see what I'm up to. (I keep it covered with a tee shirt square and a big rubber band, so it isn't gross. I just see them flying about over the sourdough thats all.)

ETA: Forgot how important commas are...

Are you sure your kitty didn't actually get into your ferment? Or maybe someone spiked her catnip :D

But really, I dunno if it could have an effect like that just by smell. Maybe though, aromatherapy does work. Hmmmm

Hmmm seems to be my word of the day... lol

who knows LOL. she's a cat so she's nuts :D
That is your answer right there!

She may want some...offer her a little bite when it is ready. My pets eat all kinds of weird stuff, usually when I show it to them, saying, "You won't like this, see?" CHOMP!:gig

I used to have a cat that loved green beans with mushrooms :idunno

I had a cat that loved asparagus! And melon, and raisins. I would offer him a bit of asparagus every Spring - See? You don't really like this. He proved me wrong every year, and every year I forgot

Pets are funny, aren't they?

My older dog will eat oranges or clementines with me, slice for slice. My oldest cat will cry when I make salads...he loves cukes and tomatoes!
