I had always wanted to build a nice solid workbench for my shop ever since I first started in woodworking about 5 or 6 years ago. Well, Many $$$ and over a 100 hours later, I finally got it finished. This is what I ended up with.....

Completed Bench.jpg

It is a design that I pretty much followed to the "T" from a design that I found in Woodsmith Magazine Number 173. I have a complete story on the whole building process on my website if you want to read the story at: http://www.oldaveswoodshop.com/Workbench.php

I could have built the bench at a lesser cost if I would have used less expensive materials but I only wanted to do this one time and thought that if I was going to do it I was going to "bite the bullet" and go all out!

Congratulations, Dave! That is one beautiful workbench. In fact, take off the worktable accouterments ,and that table could grace anyone's kitchen or dining room.

Beautiful job! If you ever need extra room in your shop I would bet there would be a line of people willing to help you gain some space. :)
I hope you have many hours of pleasure working with it now.

Great craftmanship Dave!

I'm curious about the finish on your bench, what did you use? I'm making a drill press table and I'm thinking about using a Tung Oil finish.

Dave! That's absolutely beautiful!! But as oldnamvet says, I'd be scared to death to use it.

My friend gave me his old oak and fir workbench a few years ago, it was beautiful when I got it, but not any more!!;)

The bench is gorgeous! I am so jealous!

Maybe we will have the garage rearranged by next summer to get a shop set up. It's great to be able to make your own furniture.
