I have a really old one that I bought used off of kjijiji that I absolutely love, can't imagine there's too much difference between the models but that one looks a lot bigger than mine.

Around here they tend to go on sale for about $79 for the bigger ones, but I hedged my bets and waited for a used one to come up--they go fast when people advertise them online because they usually run around $20-$30 (mine was $30 and she threw in two rolls of bags!).

Have to checked your local craigslist or kijiji to see if you can get a used one? It would save you a lot of $! :)

edited to add: I literally just used mine this morning, it looks like this (jar sealer attachment behind the machine):

Thanks Moolie!
Recommendations of other machines would be welcome.
This one is on sale for about $100.00, so it isn't cheap, but its not horribly priced either...

I looked up similar models on Amazon - I like to check there because they usually have a lot of reviews for stuff, even if their prices aren't always the best. Most complaints were from people switching from the flat counter models to this type. The way you have to put the bags in to be sealed is apparently different, and many reviewers didn't read directions first, just tried to do it the old way. Will this be your first sealer? If so, that should not effect you. :hu

I have the food saver Game Saver model. Flat type, but often wish I'd picked up the upright instead! Other than a space hog, I really like mine and use it constantly. We used to only use it to bag up ground venison during hunting season (the game saver model is supposed to recover quicker, allowing you to seal more bags in a row, before it needs a break, so we replaced our old food saver- and gave that one to MIL). Now that I have the jar sealer attachment, I use it all the time, for all sorts of things! I think I have saved the cost of my sealer several times over, in non-wasted/freezer burned food alone!

I have one similar to that and it is different from my old flat one but works just fine.

Thanks guys. When I searched on Amazon I didn't see any reviews, I'm glad you found that SSDreamin.
The one complaint on the BJ's website was that the moisture management thing didn't always work quite like the user though it should, but then they said that they had another style, and this one seemed to be more sensitive to the moisture than their other one was (which was a previous version of the same model).
I didn't notice if this one had a jar sealer, but that is a very appealing feature!
Of course the next issue is where the heck would I store this... :-/ I already have storage issues with everything else in the kitchen!

I just got mine and don't have the room to use it yet. Will when we move. I got the 2244 model Foodsaver as I saw the most good reviews on this one. It was 75.00 on Amazon with the hose and some bags. Free shipping!

Good to know, Snappy! Keep me posted please when you do use it. That is an even better price than the one we were looking at. Did it come with a jar sealer? That thing sounds cool!

No, I ordered the wide mouth sealer seperate but for free shipping too. Next, I will get the containers so I can re-use and seal jars other than mason jars. I just watched a utube video on how to do it. The containers are 19.99 with free shipping. I'll use other jars for storing my dry soup mixes.
