I had to take my dd to the doctor today. She had been scratched by a rabbit last week, it got infected, and the infection started spreading. I knew she would need some antibiotics.

So off to the Dr we go. We explain to him what happened, and he says, "Well, in 30 years of doctoring, sometimes I come across something I don't have the answer to."

So,

He GOOGLES IT!!!!!!!

Seriously!!!! He googles `rabbit scratch`, and browses 4 of the pages that pop up. Then he goes back to page one, clicks on Yahoo Answers, briefly reads it, and then decides that antibiotics are the best route (no duh!!!)

WE had been treating it at home for a week, It wasn't getting better, it was spreading. IME, that means anitibiotics. Sheesh!! I could have googled it!!!!!

yea you could have googled it but you couldn't have written the prescription yourself LOL

very funny tho and at least he has the smarts to check lol some docs wouldn't even do that :p

hope she is feeling better soon!

Yeah, but wouldn't you think he would check in a physicians manual or a search engine dedicated to doctor stuff ( I know they are out there). but he uses google?!?!?!?!?

I understand, but seriously, what kind of substantial information is a doctor gonna find (that he should already know) on google?

You would think he would have at least stepped out of the room and done it in another room so you did not know that he was looking up the answer on Google! Make it look like he got it out of an official medial book or something!

The important question is how much did he charge you for that google search you could have done yourself for free?

Technically, it cost me nothing, Canada, remember? :D but seriously, I did search it, which led me tot he concusion she needed to go to the doc and get antibiotics.

searches on the computer are very up to date with medical information and the doctor wanted the exact antibotic to prescribe

but yea, doing it in the personal office, then coming back to the exam room would have been more professional at least

imagine if the doctor did not search for the specific type of antibotic and prescribed a different one that didn't attack the specific types of bacteria from the rabbit scratches...it might have been a huge set back in her possible health problems that might have arose. So I see the search as a great use of internet at this point lol

I just think it's awesome he admitted he didn't know and went and got an answer.

Most doctors would have made something up and pretended to know what was going on.

My ex was tired all the time and he couldn't find anything wrong and said maybe it was tse tse disease LOL.
