Are you stocking up on low-tech games? I am.

I found some games on clearance at Target the other day.

Dice, mancala, playing cards.

I even have a couple of really cool rulebooks for neighborhood games I found years ago at the thrift store.

What are your favorites? What do you consider a must have?

Some on my list are scrabble, balderdash, pictionary, yatzee, Uno, Dominos, and Pente

I wish there was a real Zathura game like in the movie.
I love money-free poker, blackjack, occasionally.
Other than that it drives me crazy to sit and play any games.

We like Scrabble, Spades, Rummy, Rook and the boys love Monopoly ~ but I hate it with a passion! I already lose all my money to rent and stupid laws and taxes....why in the world would it be enjoyable to do it as play?

ROTFL too funny, Bee!!

I like Dictionary! Not the board game, but one my friend's taught me when I was a kid, and all you need is a real dictionary, pencil and paper and people with real sense of humor!

One person has the dictionary, they will look up a word (example, Zarf, real word, I just don't remember what it meant now!). The person will say, "Word is Zarf" everyone else will guess as to what they think the word means (example, Mexican dog bark "wrong answer"). I think they had us write our answers on 3x5 cards or note paper. Anyway, whoever gets the correct meaning gets the dictionary and chooses the next word. It's barrels of fun and laughter!

Quail, that sounds just like balderdash! I guess that's where that game came from.

I also picked up the Apples to Apples game just after Christmas on clearance. I haven't played it yet, but it looks fun.

We have a lot of games, my personal favorite is chinese checkers. My 4 yr old got a lot of games for his xmas gifts this year and hungry hungry hippo, flippin frogs, lucky ducks, and don't break the ice are among his favorites. I think it's great when kids can do something other than watch tv....as my 4 yr old watches Little Mermaid while little sister sleeps (he's banned from the toy box today for scratching his sister's face this morning....like ripping his arm off...that's where all the board games are) Oh, and we also love Whac a mole and Elefun. I also love Life and Operation.
