Last year one of my neighbors was throwing out an old poster bed. I had to "walk" the bed frame to my house, (about two blocks away)since it wouldn't fit in the trunk or my car, or in our small pickup which has a camper shell.
Here it is after I brought it home last year, not the best photo!

I had seen some cute garden benches made from old beds. And this would be PERFECT! So... with a little help from a friend, who had better tools than I do... we cut down the foot board, and made a frame for the seat.

Here it is all put together...

And here it is with the first coat of primer. (Cherokee carrying his favorite toy, an old laundry detergent jug.)

And here it is mostly finished

Still looking for the wood to make the seat...
When I find the wood, and get it all put together I will update
with those photos.
Painted the bench to match my chicken coop. I built the coop back
in 2008. Here are the links to my chicken coop pages on BYC

In 2014, the city made me take down my coop. I cried!!!

But just last year they changed the zoning! I am in the process of putting my coop back up with a new and improved run. Maybe I will start a new thread for my rebuild on the Chicken Coop....

not here
Very nice bench! I like it and will have to keep my eye out for someone throwing out a head board/ foot board and make one myself.

Kudos for the bench - concept to finished useful thing. Lots of care taken.

I've visited Tucson a couple times, last time being probably 10 years ago. Why has Tucson city hall decided to do that? Too bad. I feel sad for you.

Don't be sad... we can have chickens again! They changed the distance from 50ft to 20ft from the nearest neighbor's dwelling.
So I was able to put my coop back where it was! I still need to put the "top" on it, and cover it with chicken wire and hardware cloth. The run area is bigger this time.

Love the bench. I see Cherokee photo bombed it. I bet he "helped" with your project!
