My friend is moving back to Denmark at the end of may. I will miss her terribly, and want to get her something, but i totally suck at picking out and buying gifts. She has meant alot to me and my dd, she would come out and ride my horse with my dd, since she had to leave her horse in Denmark while she was living here(they were here for her hubby's work contract puttin up the dreaded wind turbines- three year contract is up).

I would like to get her something small, unbreakable, but a keepsake for her to remember us and the time we spent together.

Any ideas?

Is there anything particular that the area where you live is known for?

Do you have time to put together a small book of photos of the times you've spent together?

Is there some small bit of tack or a decorative tack item (I've seen horses that have a decorative buckle, or metal piece shaped like a 4-leaf clover etc. on the bridle) that she could use when she's riding again back home?

There's always "housewarming" type gifts as well--when we moved out to Alberta 12 years ago from Vancouver Island a friend gave me a decorative tin of teas (still use the tin to keep my tea in!), some home-made jams, and two embroidered tea towels. Check a kitchen gadget store/aisle and see if anything inspires.

NOT Southern, Ca. :)
Now me being the practical type. I would buy her stationary and a roll of stamps. That way we could write each other. Not really a memento but something she could use to keep in touch with you.

I would MAKE her a gift incorporating memories, and things you enjoyed together. I never buy a gift for those that mean that much to me...very very rarely, and I almost have to have my arm twisted off. Homemade just means so much more :hu I'm sure you'll figure out a perfect gift :)

I'm on the photo kick....is there a photo of you all on horses or something like that?

You could get a double photo frame and put the picture on one side and on the other write or find a poem that says what you want to say.
