Just wondering if it is worth it to buy an axe/hand log splitter for chopping wood. Be kind, I'm from the south where chopping wood wasn't necessary.

(And is it "ax" or "axe"? :p)

Dad used to make me split wood. He was afraid my brother would chop something off! LOL

Ok, thanks guys er gals. ;) Now for the next question...can you use the same axe for chopping AND splitting? Or are there different types for each job?

WZ, too funny!

I cut it w/a chainsaw, and then split it w/the axe! While I have used the axe for chopping wood, it takes too long. I have too much to do to want to chop wood!

Are you asking about cutting wood to length or just splitting?
