Woke up this morning to 3 pips in the last 5 eggs I have in the incubator!!

2 of the pips are Sizzles that I snuck in for my DD as a surprise to her...she won't know until they hatch.

The third pip is a BLRW from my own flock! I'm super excited for that one, because it will be the first BLRW hatched here!!! :ya

Woke up to a beautiful rain shower, roosters crowing, kids squabbling :gig

Yep, it's going to be a beautiful day!!!!!!!!!!!

:weee

It has been a lovely morning here, too, I finally started walking again, it was only a mile, but it was a lovely mile :) When I got back I weeded and pruned in the shade before the sun hit. Did a load of laundry, hung it out, there's another one down there that'll go out in a bit, and right now I'm sitting here watching Martha, listening to the heat bugs scream out there, sipping tea and eating my sprouted wheat bagel with cream cheese and fig spread. Life is good! :thumbsup
I don't have a bator, and I've never hatched eggs, but I'm thinking I will be doing that sooner or later. My next flock with be non-hatchery birds, and there will be more out there than there are now, I'm thinking around 20 or 25 - the coop is big enough for that. I don't know if I'll have a roo or not, I'm kinda tired of having to deal with them.

I'm thankful that we haven't really had to deal with a mean roo (Sam is the only one I was worried about, but he's not shown his aggressive side since being here, I Think he's too scared LOL). The roos we have that seem to feel they can throw thier "wieght" around are the little 26 oz bantams!

They have to throw their whole bodies at our legs before we even know they're after us! :gig

Morning! :D

I wish I could ease into the morning on the front porch, enjoying rain showers and coffee brewed from fresh whole beans. But alas I'm at my work desk with a mountain of "to do" things looming on my day.

I'm hatching too. I had 7 great looking Pekin eggs, appearing full of duckling. First duckling was out Sunday night with ease. Didn't get another duckling until almost 36 hours later. :ep The hatch as been slow and problematic. I've tried to keep the humidity up high for waterfowl, but 2 have had issues breaking their shells. I helped the one just a bit, and it is now thriving with 2 others in the brooder. The fourth pipped yesterday and struggled until I started helping around midnight. I broke off shell twice. The membrane seemed especially tough. Then this morning it was mostly out, but the membrane was sticking to its back and the shell wouldn't separate from the duckling. I ended up putting some warm water on it and freeing it. The yolk sac was still attached to duckling and shell, and I didn't touch that part. I left for work and hope the duckling dries and strengthens today. I'm about to give up on the other 3 eggs. I see no movement. :hit

Good morning, we have had great weather here. coastal fog in the am and evenings and no more than 75 during the day.

Becca I have a to do list as well, it's just buried under the mess somewhere. :D

My BR rooster Jack has been extremely talkative the past week. It seems one of my neighbors has acquired a Roo. Which is a bit odd because I am a two acre parcel in the middle of smaller homes. I really did not mind having a Roo until now..... It seems they just have crowing contest all day long. Will they ever get over this????

Have a great day!!!

I love crowing contests!!!!!

Becca, sorry your hatch is going so slow. I hope your little duckling is doing well when you get home. Your neighbor should be thrilled with the new little pekins! (does she still plan to get some?)

I have yet to talk to my neighbor about the hatch, but I talked to her 12-year-old son Saturday and he was thrilled about getting ducks again. :D

Good Morning y'all!

I wish I had chicks to wake up to. My roo is too young 13 weeks old now. He (and the others that I'm rehoming) have begun to crow, but they need practice!!

Reinbeau, I'm glad you are up to a mile in your walks now. You sound content, actually you all do!

Have a great day! Life is GOOD!!!

Good morning! :frow Life is indeed good! :love

Only one more day until my youngest comes home from boot camp and I get to hug him once again. Seems like ages! It will be interesting to see any new changes in his face and person.

BBH, I was thanking God for how quiet my roo has been and you can't wait until yours crow! :gig
