Anyone know where to find these at a reasonable price? The cheapest hot dog bun pan I found is $45. I am gluten free (celiac disease) and need to be able to make my own, any suggestions?? I can't be the only one who wants to or does this I don't think.

Hmm. Well, I have seen Twinkies "pans" made by the homemaker with heavy duty aluminum foil. The demonstration showed double layers of foil being formed around a spice bottle. I can imagine an appropriately shaped container could be used for hamburger and hospitalized dog buns. Far cheaper than $45. Have you heard of Todd Wilbur and his Top Secret Recipes? Here's a video of him make a Twinkie pan.

Maybe you don't need a special pan? The recipe I have says to shape dough into balls for hamburger buns or rolls (5.5 inches) for hot dog buns, place in a well-greased 8x8 baking pan (4 per pan), flatten so the buns are nearly touching, let rise, and bake.

I use a 9" square and a 10" rectangular pan to do hot dog rolls.

Tuna cans make a nice size for sandwich buns. I also do them in a 9" square.

I am watching this thread. Fairly new to being Celiac (2 years). I had not thought about making my own hot dog and hamburger buns.

Do you have a recipe or do you use a mix dipence71?

I have never used a pan, just free form shaped them, bakes on a sheet pan lined with parchment. I don't need any more dishes to wash :p

When I was using the regular hot dog/ hamburger recipe we have around here. I rolled my dough out and cut with a glass/biscuit cutter and flattened a bit. The shape and amount of dough was perfect. I have no idea about hot dogs.

Can you post the recipe for the gluten free?

Thanks gina
