A few of you mentioned over in the Plain Dress thread, that you had some interest in head covering.

I find head dressing interesting.

Almost every civilization played in the SCA uses headdress. Almost all the females over 18 wear veils or hats. Some over 18 go bare, but cover once married. We play the cultures we choose a character from and there aren't many places where women went bare-headed.

It's a VERY modern thing for so many heads to be bare. Like 2 generations old? 3-4 generations and we still had sun bonnets and the great 20s hats coming soon after. The 40s had men in hats but not females.

I love fedoras.

I'm going to watch the video as soon as I finish my dress. The iron is heating right now LOL.

ETA: She talks about reactions to cope with that make head covering difficult. What reactions would there be?

I really like her blog too. She is caring for her cancer stricken mother, and has been for some time. Hence the long times between posts.
