I was surprised the campground WAS NOT full. Usually it is packed beyond packed. every site taken. NOT this time. there were prime beach front sites available.
We had a nice site, water was super duper cold, but Nicole and I braved it for about 15 mins.. weather nice. good trip.

but the economy I believe is reeking havoc on people and their vacations. It is the first time I could actually see some real affect of it.

because truly, never in all my 15yrs of camping has the beachfront cgs had available prime spots on easter/kids spring break weekend.

I have to say the gas cost was OUCH on this trip also. geez, I gotta be camping closer to home. Diesel at $4.19 and a long trip makes for a screaming wallet.

I heard the same things about the cgs around here! I guess, when gas hits a certain level, people just stay home, don't even take closeby camping trips! I read in our local paper that our State parks are dropping their prices. Obviously they are anticipating lower turnout but, seriously, a $2 reduction in camping fees is NOT going to be the deciding factor for me! :p

Gas prices are getting horrible! I'm so glad I have the bike. I hate to think what it would cost me to drive the truck all summer.

SS, I didn't hear that about the parks dropping fees. very interesting. that is a sure sign vacationing is down, but you are right. $2 isn't going to help...not me at all :)

yea my new mega monster diesel didn't thrill me one bit on towing mileage. I am seriously thinking of getting rid of this new truck and finding something else...but right now that is in the 'beginning' stages of deciding what to do.

Right now we don't have much income but we figured out that we are spending 25% of monthly income on gas and about the same on rv park rent. Sure will be a blessing to get moved!
