The article says:
NOTE: If you are using this around plants, trees and vegetables to fend off pests and animals or don’t have it, you can substitute the vinegar, alcohol and baby oil with water.
I imagine this would keep pests and animals from eating the plants, but how does that keep the doggies from peeing on the plants?

I'm going to spray around the base of my strawbale garden. When they go to sniff around it's gonna burn the crap out of their nose

Interesting idea. But. A dog's nose works differently than a humans. Pepper spray does work against animals. Spraying peppers around an area does not. The concentration is nowhere near what is required to deter them. If you simply spray it on your plants then walk away it wont work. Can't work. You need to come up with an automatic delivery system so if a dog comes by it gets sprayed. Capsasin weathers quickly. Spray comercial bearspray over a path as you walk it and a tracking dog will still be able to follow your scent. Within minutes.

Better option? Call the pound and keep calling the pound.

Daddy was a dog handler in the SOF community when he was in the Corps. He told me about training excercises where half trained dogs would walk right past CS grenades while tracking drugs or explosives. Would go into the gas chamber and simply look up at their handler for instructions.

Their noses and tongues don't work the way ours do. But their skin and eyes do. There needs to be direct contact for oc to be effective.

Want to keep dogs out of your yard? Get a bigger more dominant dog.

Or set up with a paintball or pellet gun.

Years ago, I used to live in South Africa, I read an article on the most effective dog repellent EVER… Lion droppings. Unfortunately this is not readily available to most, unless you happen to know someone working at a zoo, for a circus or a wildlife park, but it's a fun thought anyway… ;)

If there was lion poop in my garden, forget the dog, I'd stay out of there, too!
