How bad for you are these particular soy beans?

How about lentil and ham soup? That is a little lower GI.

Also don't do canned beans.....maybe you already know this but they are a higher load than re-hydrated dry! Never knew that till I just looked up beans to get some ideas for you!

Oh yes! Lentils! Great idea! *adds to list*

(I usually use dry, long soaked with whey, but these looked so easy :hide and they said they already soak them for 24 hours... I didn't know how that effected the gi load, thanks for the info.)

Ok that is what I needed to hear.

Yeah, I miss that stuff too, it "seemed" so healthy didn't it? I used to stick it in my daughter's lunch all the time...:sick

or whole grain cheerios?

Hey Sally, I remember Free mentioning that whenever you cook something it raises the GI....I have heard this elsewhere as well.

Pasta al dente is a lower glycemic load than over cooked pasta. Lightly cooked still crisp carrots are a higher load than raw but not as high as soft cooked.

So it makes sense that beans would follow the same rule.

Thanks Dace! I bought dry lentils instead. :) (Putting them in for a long soak with whey this evening.)

Oh my, I remember giving my little toddler girl whole grain cheerios  .
