I decided that a 96* day was a good time to clean out our chest freezer. Upon doing so, I discovered that I had several bags of old corn, carrots, and other veggies I've frozen in the past. I knew that they were not going to taste very good to me, but I knew some ladies who would definitely appreciate them - my chickens! Viola - cornsicles!! They are most definitely appreciating the cold treat. It's supposed to be just as bad tomorrow, so I think it will be carrotsicles and zukesicles then.

I got some of those too. Sometimes they go into dogfood, but mostly the chickens get those mystery vegies from the freezer.

My ducks help me clean the freezer :D

Last year they got several batches of spaghetti squash. They don't mind a little freezer burn.

I froze quite a few bags of corn last year, even though the corn tasted awful. I think my corn was cross-pollenated with the field corn next door. It was so bland. :/ I figured I'd just eat them anyways, but now I think I'll just go ahead and feed them to the chickens.

OK, I have a question, do you freeze them in those plastic freezing bags or do you have a better system which was mentioned earlier on this forum worked out?

EDIT:
how big are your chest freezers?
