Last weekend my cell phone dropped in water. It would not work anymore. I've had this happen before and I just figured I had to get a new one.

A dear friend just told me that if I sink it deep into a bowl of uncooked white rice it would leach the water out.

Well I tried it. I left it burried in the rice for 3 days. I just pulled it out and pluged it in. IT WORKS! :celebrate

I hope this helps anyone who is as clumsey as me. :p

You can also take it apart, I mean take off the cover, take the battery out, anything that is actually meant to be taken off, wipe all surfaces and let it dry for at least 4 full days, 96 hours.
I thought I'd lost my Treo for sure, but this saved it!
Glad your phone is still alive!

As long as it wasn't salt water, which I think will actually fry it. But most electrical devices just need a good air drying and then they will work.

No need to use rice...just take out the battery and let it air dry. That has worked well for me.

Yeah, hubby works for T-Mobile (high balance collections) and told me about that. Too bad the only thing that ever ended up in any water was our old digital camera (it didn't work even after drying out).

Don't have a cell phone, but I've knocked my cordless phone into the bathtub on more than one occasion. Just took the battery out and let it dry.

Um . . . ha ha ha, I heard a story on NPR about people dropping their cell phones in toilets. STOP READING HERE IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH! There was one guy who dropped his phone in one on an airplane flight and he caught it right before it flushed, but it had that blue liquid on it. ROFL Well, he had some important numbers in it that he needed for his business trip, so he wiped it off. Then he ended up needing it to make a call as he rushed off to a business meeting . . . he got to the meeting and the people there asked him what the blue stuff on his chin was. Ewwwww.

I had no idea so many people drop cell phones in water!

Yeah, I have dropped everything in water. Im a klutz and a half! The first phone dropped into my daughter's bath water years ago, and the most recent phone-in-water was when I got back from a Mariners game I was holdig my stuff in a plastic bag with a bottle of water. The cap was loose and filled the bottom of the bag with water, thus submerging my phone. :he

I have to have a waterproof watch because I have ruined so many by dropping them accidentall..in water dish water, the toilet when the band broke..I have a million scenarios of water dropping incidints.
