I step outside last evening, to............AMMONIA!

I let the dogs out last night about 9:00 for their last potty break, and I thought I had walked into a wall! My GAWD was it ever strong! I remembered seeing some fertilizer tanks on the farm just west of us yesterday afternoon. I thought maybe they had sprung a leak, or some one was tampering, so I called 911.
Fire department came out to check it out. Turns out they were spraying the farm just to the northeast of us, and the wind had switched directions !!
Holy CRAP did it ever stink! I have lived here just over 26 years, and I have NEVER smelled anything even remotely that nasty from ANY of the farms around us!
How in the WORLD those guys work with that stuff is way beyond me, but worse yet, WTH is it doing to the soil????

WOW! So sorry about the stink. I can't imagine anything that smells THAT bad, can be healthy.

We're surrounded by farms on 3 sides. Big commercial farms that use all that crap on their fields. they are kind enough to let us know when we should close up our windows Most dont even wear masks or anything in those open tractors and I won't let my dog out.
