So, I had button quail eggs shipped out on Tuesday. I thought they'd be here today, but alas, no BQ eggs. I also had flour beetles shipped on Monday, supposed to be here today, again, no beetles. So, both packages should arrive tomorrow. Also happening tomorrow... I get to pick up my standard rex harlequin doe!!!

And here I thought my little hen was early getting all broody on me.
I don't like to start hatching til april in these parts. It is just too cold for the babies. But then I don't have a big barn either, just a small henhouse and then very little shelter besides that. I have to keep chicks safely in the house for quite a while.

Actually, I honestly think that it's a little late in the time to hatch. The time that older hens are wasting because it's cold, the chicks are using to grow and mature. They'll be laying in spring instead of waiting until very late summer or not at all!

I don't have the facilities to keep the little chicks warm, unless I keep them in the house. Which I will be doing with the ones my hen is sitting on right now .
I think I would be raising chicks at this time of year too, if I could keep them warm and safe, someplace other than in the living room
So you will have a bunch if miniature cottonballs tomorrow!! :woot

I can hardly wait for mine to hatch. Hopefully this weekend.
I hadn't thought about the fact that this batch should start laying in the summer, I was just so excited about getting those little fuffballs, I didn't even think that far ahead.

Lol. I have the incubator in the basement. Once they hatch, they'll be moved to the unfinished part of the basement, where the rabbit is at. It's still warm in there, but since it's unfinished, the boyfriend hopefully won't uhh, "complain" too much.
