I'll admit it, we're not the type of people to vacuum once a week and we don't wash bed linens weekly either. Worse yet, we don't "frontline" our indoor chihuahua. So I suppose it should come as no surprise that suddenly we are being eaten alive by something invisible that strikes fast and leaves itchy little red bites in its wake.

We assumed it was fleas, but noticed that the dog isn't itchy and we can't actually see fleas anywhere. What we did see was a bunch of almost invisible flat, tan oval-shaped bugs in the bathroom. When you pinch them between your fingers, they just walk off like nothing happened.

We've purchased the DE and sprinkled it all over the sofa and our bed and the dog, as well as removed draperies and clothing in hampers or on the floor, washing everything.

I've read the thread on here about treating the house, but I wasn't sure how to handle the hardwood floors. Do they need to be covered with the DE too? And what do we do with the dog during this time? Can she be in there or should she be removed?

What in the heck do you think this is if it isn't fleas, bedbugs, dust mites or spiders?? Help please!!

Sounds like bedbugs to me too, and they are getting pretty rampant everywhere in the past couple of years, so don't be surprised. Yikes!

Thanks for the link. They had a couple of ideas on there that I hadn't read before. I love the idea of the bed legs in tin cans with petroleum jelly.

DDT is what go rid of the bed bugs back when. Now the chemical is banned and the epidemic is rising again.

Many people think that DDT is not near as dangerous as was claimed... and some of the stuff out there now is much worse.

They use DDT all the time in Mexico and many many other countries.

Making me itch just thinking about them.

I should think about trying to prevent anything like that getting in our house, especially with school starting soon, I hope there are no lice going around this year, scared the poop out of me last year, we were lucky and didn't get those (probably because my kids hate washing their hair  )

I was wondering if I had a few bedbugs... but I sleep flat on the floor on a mat...

So no signs of any bugs anywhere.

But I doubt I'd see any since they can retreat back to the walls so easily lol.

Then again, I have lots of wolf spiders :D

I have some pretty big wolf spiders here too, the pit got bit by one last year and his paw swelled into a baseball glove, had to carry him from room to room and even outside - I check all my sneakers now.

this is colorado.

our bugs don't get big. size of a quarter is HUGE for a wolf spider here.

best of all... they eat all the other bugs. actively hunting them down.
