Hello,
I'm new to the forums. I work for a manufacturer who uses large ammounts of IPE decking. IPE is also known as "Brazilan Walnut" although I think its just a nickname. Its a VERY dense wood that lasts a long time in the elements. Long story short, there are large ammounts of scrap lumber left over from making our products. These scrap boards are approx. 6" wide, 1" thick and vary in length from 12" to 24". I have access to these scraps and would like to make use of them. I was thinking of making some butcher blocks by ripping these boards to about 1.5" thick and then laminate them.
I have plenty of wood working tools, except a lathe. But I was wondering what some other uses would be? Has anyone else used this wood for butcher block counter tops or butcher blocks? Any tips on laminating the strips?
Thanks in advance,
Josh
