Everytime I would get to a nice Deep Sleep and off to dream land - E was waking up and saying, "Something's out there"

At 3:30 am we heard chickens screaming.

Get up, get dressed, run out with gun.

My new Bantam Salmon Faverolle Hen - :hit just a pile of feathers left.

Don't find the culprit, pile back into bed - for an uneasy sleep...

At 5:00 am scratch scratch dig dig dig scratch scratch at my back door!! :th

BIG COON!!!!!!!!!! :ep

Throw on clothes, back out with gun because that big blankity blank was walking on the back porch like he OWNED it.

By the time we got out there with the gun, he was gone.

:somad

So, no, didn't want to be up this early, but now I'm mad so guess who's sitting up tonight and having target practice???????????

Thanks, I hope he gets the bugger, too.

We think he smelled the burr comb that we brought in the house yesterday and that's why he was "knocking" at our door.

and it's not like I've got a flashing sign out that says, "free wildlife smorgasboard - just knock"

It just makes me mad because I was just super lucky to find my Fav Hen, but I'm still OK, have 3 younger ones coming up - but still.

this is so me right now >>>>> :caf

You know, I just keep thinking about the morons at Mt. Hope raising and selling FOX KITS and Coon (are they kits or cubs as babies???) to Poultry Owners at the swap meets! :th

Guy tried to get me to buy a red fox kit, and I said, uh no thanks, got chickens.

He was STILL trying to get me to buy a fox! Um - NO.

It just makes NO SENSE to have a pet fox or coon if you are raising birds. :duc

I won't be making fun of BeccaOh and her coon troubles anymore :hide

yeesh - talk about payback

ofg - we actually have a coon dog, and when she's out running we don't usually have predator issues because she keeps them away, but the snot turned into a - well she wagged her tail a certain way at another dog and had pups....so she's tied out and those pups are leaving tomorrow.

Then, she can go back to free-running and playing keep away with the coons :p

hope you get yours, too. we should take pics and compare trophys :p

I think I'd look good in a coonskin cap

Sorry about your chicken Aly. :(

A coon skin cap is a great idea, if you don't want it I am sure my son would. :D

Feel better and have a good day!!!
