There was a young man and his autistic daughter on Fox & Friends this morning. When the daughter was first dx'd with autism, dad changed the family's diet. They went low carb, HIGH FAT, started eating fermented foods, ditched gluten and dairy. They started drinking kefir made from coconut milk.

The result? The daughter no longer shows any autistic behavior. The doctor they also had on said this isn't a cure, but it appears to help in about 60% of cases.

Not bad odds!

We went gluten and casin free for Max when he was younger and it didn't help much, but with the severity level of his autism it is possible he could have ended up much worse.

When you are autistic the brain is wired differently. Diet can either help improve that situation or make it worse. Glad to see the traditional diets advocated by the Weston Price Foundation and even good old maligned Dr. Atkins doing good in unexpected ways.

It is true that gluten free does affect autism. No, no cure more often then not, but it does help.
I think it has more to do with the leaky gut, then anything.

Get this: my vision is UNCHANGED since my glasses visit 10 years ago.

And randomly, on the low carb, my eyes focus faster. I don't know, but I'm assuming it's the less insulin in the blood thing. I used to have them hold each "slide" for at least 5 seconds to focus on it before showing me the next, on the "frame 1 or 2?" thing eye docs do....

Just took 2 seconds and fewer "show me them both again".
