Yesterday (4/21/2010) about 12:30pm the kids started being born! There were three of them. Two males and one female. The goats are kept between two private schools in a rural area. It just so happened to be the lunch recess. So the children were able to come a watch the goat giving birth. There were 25 to 30 children and their teachers are gathered around the outside of the fence. Once the kids were cleaned up, the teachers and students were invited in the goat pen, they sat down and played "pass the baby" with the newborn kids. It was a very nice time.

I didn't get many photos. My job was to keep Miss Elizabeth (age 2)from getting under foot.

Here is Miss Elizabeth with the first born male. King Arthur.

Here is the second male, Sir Lancelot being born.

If you look closely you can see a set of baby legs under the knee of the lady sitting in the chair.
Here the kids are getting "standing" lessons.

And here is one of "Kids holding kids"

All three kids are in this photo.

That was my excitement for the day!

I'll bet those kids(human kind) were really excited! I think it is sad that a lot of kids never know where their food comes from, much less get to see a baby being born or hold a newborn animal. That is something special for a child. My kids have seen it many times and they still get excited to watch a chick hatch, or an animal being born.

One of the schools has a HUGE vegetable garden all year and they have a sort of co-op going. Plus they have a roadside stand to sell the vegetables. They have chickens at the school too. And there are covered corrals and room for lots more livestock. The schools are down the road a bit and across the street from our congregation. It is nice to have them right on my way to and from the synagogue.
