I had a student ask me how much liquid Dr. Bronner's castile soap to use in the laundry soap recipe. I have no clue!

Any opinions out there? ;) :D

No idea, but please post it if you get an answer. I'd love to try that.

I have a recipe that uses Kirk's Castile bar soap instead of Fels Naptha, but haven't found any that start with liquid castile.

I don't purchase Dr. Bronner's, so not aware of the pricing. In economic terms, would that be a good basis for laundry soap? I'm spending about 1 penny a load for the homemade.

This student was almost out of laundry soap and wanted to make his first batch, and Dr. Bronner's was what he had in the house. I wonder if he used a similar volume if it would be strong enough. I've never made liquid soap, so I'm not sure if it is stronger or weaker than bar soap, by volume.....???

Bronners makes the bar soaps so I'm - guessing- that you could grate it and use it like the other stuff. Has anybody done it?

I hope we get an answer soon. My bottle of the purex is running low and I would rather make a batch than buy a new bottle.

I would personally just use an equal volume to some degree. Say 3/4 cup or a cup for every bar you would use. It must be somewhat similar in cleaning power...wing it, what does it matter...it's not bleach :p

I have a bar of the Bronners soap. Just substitute it for the Fels soap? Making the liquid detergent.

Dragonlaurel, The Fels Naptha bars are 5.5 oz. If you have Bronners bar soap of similar size, I would just substitute it for the Fels Naptha bar in equal portions.

I make the liquid too, as I prefer it to the dry stuff. :)
