Look what I found!

I was walking the dog and found this "stand" that someone was throwing away. It was black wrought iron. I got out my paints and make it like brand new.
Before.. (well, not really I forgot to do a before photo, this is after I put primer on it)

Here is the after photo, i had wanted to use it for a stand
for a hummingbird feeder, but had to return the feeder
because it leaked so badly.

so.. I made it a plant stand instead.

I had these pots hanging around, wired them together and added
some motifs from the plastic table cloth a friend gave me years ago
now. I think they turned out pretty good, If I do say so myself!
As you can see I used clothes hangers to hang the pots!

Maybe though, ya might put some of those cool looking rocks around the base so it doesn't fall over and spill your flowers in the wind.

Momma used an old hall tree to hang plants when we lived in NC and it fell over all the time in the back yard.

I don't think it will fall over. The base is cast iron and very heavy. And it is under an umbrella which should cut down on any wind blowing it over. We will see when the summer storms come.

If you find old post lamps w cast-iron bases, and you find them real cheap, you could also maybe use them for sprinkler-stand bases. You just need something with a bit of a "footprint" and 15 pounds or so of weight to it.

These are a couple of sprinkler-stand bases I made (or modified, in the case of the one w dumbbells). Rather - emm, un-aesthetic - wouldn’t you say? But of course they work because they’re heavy enough. And they work in my sandy/silty soil that a prong-bottom stand will not hold into, once the soil gets wet. I posted my stories about making these here on sufficientself a couple years back.

Rebetzin, you came out with something very nice.

But even an old funky base with a messed-up upper portion could be useful. You could start from that instead of what I made.
