I hate Lehman's Hardware! ( http://www.lehmans.com/ ) The Wife and I headed over there yesterday for a QUICK visit. All we wanted was a large stainless steel bowl for prepping our beans and stuff in. Should have been a 10 minute/25 dollar shopping trip. 3 hours and 300 bucks later we were back in the car and heading home!

We talked ourselves into some cooking/canning/preserving books, a motor for our Roma juicer and a 15 liter Harsch/Gartopf crock for making kraut.

I am going to try to get the first batch of kraut going today, after we get the green beans canned.

I keep thinking about what would happen if you took the guiness book of records cabbage and fermented it in your tank that you hauled home the other day. Makes me smile.

Now THAT'S a thought!!
You would sure have to make sure it was vented well enough. Can you imagine the explosion if the vent plugged?
