Ya'll keep discussing this stuff in other threads. Here's a thread just for presenting your arguments either way for or against low-carbing. Post your sources. Post your research. This way, when it seems like you want to bring it up to tell folks about it on other threads, you can just point here.

So - why should I low-carb? Or why should I not low-carb?

The pros for me,..I did it for two months and the weight finally started melting away,..15 pounds. That was great! :D (I still haven't gained it back :fl )

The cons for me,...I LOVE bread! I LOVE oatmeal! I am a baking queen,..cookies, cakes,...I am shameless. :hide

I keep telling myself as soon as winter is over I am back to low carb,...right now my DH is laid off and I can blame him for me falling off the wagon,...he makes me cook!

I have to admit, I have had a LOT of fun learning more cooking because of this very thing.

I am sure! There is a lot of great low carb recipes out there. The problem being for me was the price,...self-rising flour is much cheaper than say almond flour,...plus being in this part of the country it is nowhere to be found and mail order is the only way to get "speciality items". But my mom makes some real good low carb mini cheesecakes,...,..but she uses Splenda,...I dislike using artificial sweeteners.

Can I just say that various sources that various members of thsi forum (WZ and others) have posted, and subsequent things I turned up on my own having had my interest piqued, have convinced me there is a lot of reality to this low carb thing.

And I will say that since I started limiting my intake of sugars and simple starches to a greater degree (e.g. no more pretzels, much less pasta or tortillas) while adding extra fat to my diet I have lost weight slowly but steadily without intentionally altering how much I'm eating, and feel better.

That said, IMO it would be nice if this stuff stayed in discussions OF low carb diets, rather than asploding into every other thread anytime food, weight or health are mentioned ;)

AnnaRaven, the links WZ gives above are one good starting point but there are A NUMBER of other big threads on this subject here on the forum that you may wish to look at with a whole lotta other interesting stuff posted.

I would love to have all the links gathered into one place so that they can be compared side by side. That way everyone can see what's going on.
